October 3, 2008

I can't believe it, but two more splits appeared on my fingertips last night as I was sleeping. Not that I notice pain-wise, because I don't think it could hurt any more than it already does. I can't touch anything with my fingertips. It's very hard to remember every time you want to pick something up that you have to use the pads of your fingers; you instinctively reach with your fingertips to pick up everything.

I was chatting with my social worker and the nurse today at dialysis and mentioned all the problems with my fingers, hand, and arm. They both urged me to see the surgeon as soon as possible so I called his office. I won't hear back until Monday because it was late in the afternoon and all the doctors had left for the weekend. I spent the rest of my treatment working on Baby Kasey.

The thought came to mind that I need a fob or something on my Thread Heaven . I've lost two since July. The first, I think, fell into the trash bag I kept taped to the side of my end table. I lost another last weekend at Mom's. So when I got home, VOILA! I made this handy little Thread Heaven Haven. I just whipped it together using a fabric remnant and some floss I didn't have any other use for. I'm hoping that my Thread Heaven won't disappear unnoticed anymore. This is finish #35 for this year!

Before I went home after dialysis I went to my bank. I had a really bad scare while I was there. After standing in line (there is no drive-through) for 10-15 minutes I felt the back of my neck get very warm and the sound level in the room dropped all of a sudden. This drop in sound level usually means I'm about to lose consciousness. I ran out without conducting my business, got in my truck, put my head between my knees for a minute, and then took a long drink of my lemonade tea. Since the bank had already locked their doors before I left and were letting customers out one at a time, I knew I couldn't get back in. I just went home and rested in my recliner for the remainder of the night.
