January 24-25, 2009

After my dehydration scare Friday morning I knew I needed a weekend of rest and relaxation, so that's what I did! Saturday was spent watching movies until mid-afternoon and then I turned off the television to concentrate on my stitching. I turned the tv back on later and watched a few programs to clear up space on my DVR and then went right back to my stitching.

Sunday was more of the same, but I shunned the televsion for instrumental/nature music from my iPod radio. I love hearing the sounds of nature as a backdrop to gentle piano- and flute-playing. Talk about soothing!

I remembered that I had plastic spools from one of the needlepoint kits I bought back in November and thought they'd be a great way to keep my Dinky Dyes clean and untangled. As I was winding the silks onto the spools, Chet decided to "help" me. I know I'm lucky because I've heard some real horror stories about people's cats attacking stash, but my Bug likes to play with floss in slow-motion. His paw slooooowly reaches up and gently bats at the floss. That's it. No chewing, no snagging (he's declawed). He just bats it a few times and he's done. So I let him. He doesn't hurt anything and he's almost 15 years old. I encourage him to get playful as much as I can. He deserves it at his age!

I've made great progress on A Stitcher's Companion but there was much more stitching on the cover than I thought! I'm still working on it, as a matter of fact, when I thought I'd have it completed today and move on to the back cover. I still have the inner border, the center motif, and the initials on the spine to complete. The purples Jo chose, however look stunning on the Purple Horizon fabric! BW: the purple-y-ness is multiplying!! I love it!

I also have to thank Debi for the QSnap extenders. They arrived Saturday as the second part of our trade. There's still one more on the way, so I will let you know when it arrives, D! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.
