Getting Tired...

...of people.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the individual who sent this personal email response to my previous post (which was sent to my Yahoo stitching groups as well):

"Please tell me your point in posting this to a needlework list - where discussion is about needlework, not personal issues."[Name removed]

My return message was:

"And yet I've seen others post about illnesses and deaths. You send them a nasty message too? I'm a stitcher and have friends on the list. Sorry if you were offended I asked for thoughts and prayers."

Where do people get off, doing something like this?? My question to them should have been "Who peed in your Wheaties this morning?"

I'm sorry if this offends anyone but this message has been bothering me all day. This person isn't even a moderator of the list I sent the message to, and to send something like that was hurtful. Especially considering all the posts I see on that very same list, asking for prayers and get-well wishes for other stitchers and their loved ones. It's not as if I'm having a boob job or some elective surgery; I can't receive my dialysis treatments without a working graft. The catheter is only temporary because the risk of infection is so high.

To those of you who are in the MAJOR majority, Thank you! Your well-wishes, encouragement, thoughts, and prayers are what keep me going. Without your love and support it would be much tougher to get through this difficult time.

  2. I read your notes on the ANG list and saw the last one about your surgery. I will keep you in my prayers. Yep, there will always be one who will comment if the post has nothing about needlework in it. It was the reason a sister list was started called Needlepoint-etc(I think?) It is a relatively quiet group any more. At one point the Ang list was rowdier. I joined at the end of an imaginary bus trip...Jane of Chilly Hallow fame drove the bus, I believe. It was quite funny, but I think they got in trouble for it. Wish I still had the emails from it. I laughed and laughed. You are in my prayers.

  3. Beth,
You are an inspirational person to me. You have many obstacles you are facing and yet you always find the time to give someone a kind word. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time and with your schooling. It does not bother me when you post to the stitching group. I don't mind. If someone doesn't care for it then they should just not read it. Simple as that. Hugs, Carolyn

  4. It's the first time on your blog .

I'm schocked but should we be surprised some people are so mean to each other ??? Those who don't know illnesses can't understand what it is ... These mean people always make me wonder about human beings in general ... Thanks god there are nice people around who don't judge, know we are all differents and can't all react the same. Let's forget about those who need to put people down to feel important ;-)

Hugs and prayers for you ;-)

  6. Beth, I'm so sorry! That was just too rude! Honey, are you on a transplant list? What's your blood type? I'd give you a kidney, just say the word.

  7. Beth- People can be so miserable...sometimes some of the stitching groups can be so miserable...I agree with you, how many times do we see the notes about a friend of a friend of a friend who needs prayers and nothing is said to them. I had a situation on one of the groups I WAS (note I said WAS not am) on...it was a SAL group and the designer hadn't posted the last piece and "playfully" I teased of wouldn't it be nice if she'd get it posted for those of us that were chopping at the bit to finish...I got reprimanded by someone who WASN'T a moderator and when I replied to her about being rude, I got slammed by the moderator who was a friend of the first commentor and because of my "attitude" I was put on moderation so the moderator could check my messages before being posted (mind you I'd never had a problem in the past)...I received a private email message from the designer apologizing for the treatment I was receiving from the moderator and the other person. The designer and I are "friends" on Facebook and we send each other emails occasionally catching up on designs but I left that group because I didn't need the flack...I have since rejoined it but under an assumed name so I can see what others I found as friends there are working on...Sorry this is so long...Hang in there and forget about the pain who said that to you...

As usual you are always in my prayers...I get worried when I haven't seen you post in awhile...

  8. Beth,
I'm so sorry this person was so rude. While we all realize we're on stitching lists and we mostly post our needlework endeavors, we all sometimes include personal items and ask for prayers to our friends. It's not like you only post about your illnesses and never your needlework. That's what the subject line is for - and people can easily skip that e-mail if they want to. Maybe they're a newbie and don't want any extra posts or don't understand how it works. If it really bothers you, why don't you contact one of the moderators and ask about it? I hope that after you talk with them, you'll feel much better about the situation. I'm really sorry you're having to deal with all this, but keep on keeping on! (((HUGS)))

  9. Beth, my mother was on dialysis for 9 years so I can fully understand what you are going through. I am a stitcher who came across your blog on another stitcher's blog. People who don't understand the fact that long-term or permanent illnesses are not just a little cold, or a headache, can be extremely rude and unfeeling; rest assured not all stitchers are like her! Will keep you in my thoughts. Ally in Scotland xxx
